The Camp is located under the shade of the Acacaia Tortillas Trees and sits in the shadow of the majestic Mount Kilimanjaro. The widely spread story that Queen Victoria giving Kilimanjaro to Kaiser Wilhelm Spitze for a birthday present - is colorfully untrue! The first of many unforgettable experiences. Tortilis Camp-LD
DAY FOUR- AMBOSELI
Amboseli meaning a "place of water" in Masai, is sometimes very dry and dusty in appearance, but it has an endless water supply filtered through thousands of feet of volcanic rock from Kilimanjaro's snow melt. The main attractions here of course are the vast herds of elephants within the park. The bull elephants here have some of the largest tusks in Kenya. Two especially interesting antelopes may be found in this area as well, the Long-necked Gerenuk - often called the Giraffe-necked Antelope and the Fringe-eared Oryx. Bird life is abundant especially in the vicinity of the lakes and swamps where a great variety of water birds may be seen. We enjoy using the private ranches and conservation areas surrounding the national parks - for the obvious reason of less traffic but also because these areas offer a wealth of game viewing and walking safaris because our partners work very closely with the local people to develop Eco-tourism, which benefits the indigenous communities and protect this fragile Ecosystem.
DAY FIVE-MAASAI MARA
You will depart from a nearby airstrip and board the scheduled flight to Nairobi where you will connect onto Maasai Mara Reserves. The Masai Mara holds the greatest and most diverse concentration of wildlife remaining in Africa today. This place is guaranteed to take your breath away. As you land on a dirt airstrip you will fly low over herds of wildebeest and zebra and marvel at the sheer numbers of wildlife that litter the grassy plains. The Masai Mara is Africa's most prolific wildlife destination
Ilmoran will be your home. The camp for those who want that extra bit of luxury. It has been kept Governors’ Ilmoran Camp as small as possible, with added touches that make this the top of the range safari. Ilmoran recreates the atmosphere of the original hunting camps. Hidden under ancient trees, deep in the forest, are just 10 tents. For lunch a buffet that’ll satisfy the hungriest appetites. Deep in the bush, our cordon-bleu dinners by candlelight are a truly unforgettable experience. Nowhere else can you get so far from civilization, yet stay in such style. Then for approximately one hour you will drift quietly above the plains gazing at spectacular views of endless kopjes and with luck, see some great game. The overhead perspective gives a whole new experience to game-watching and many find this is the climax of their safari. On landing in the middle of nowhere, a 'Champagne-style' breakfast will be waiting, before you are driven slowly back to camp. Truly unforgettable. Your guide will explain the animal behavior – and because of his expertise and experience, will take you to the best locations for the season to maximize your safari experience. Unlimited game drives
